Activity Evaluation

Lab 1: Mapping With UAS Data
  1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic on scale of 1-5: 2
  2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic  on a scale of 1-5: 3.5
  3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn on a scale of 1-5: 3
  4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I would   recommend a little bit more time in class before this activity disusing the specifics of NDVI data an Orthogrametric Data and less about what makes a map a map.

Lab 2: Reviewing GEMs Hardware and Software

  1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic on scale of 1-5: 2
  2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic  on a scale of 1-5: 3.75
  3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn on a scale of 1-5: 4
  4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I would have been nice to be given material or more lecture notes on what GEMs hardware/software is intended for.  Yes, it is meant for agricultural applications, so does that mean its shortcomings in resolution and field of view are negligible? Most of the documentation currently out their is stuffed published by Sentek Systems, and doesn't provide clear cut examples.

Lab 3: Processing Pix4D Imagery

  1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic on scale of 1-5: 3
  2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic  on a scale of 1-5: 3.75
  3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn on a scale of 1-5: 3.5
  4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?  The main issue i had with this lab was that the manual was not nearly as helpful and the GEMS manual was.  I found myself often having to refer to a different source in order to get a clearer answer for a question that i had or that i was being asked.  Perhaps presenting a complete project to the class prior to this activity would be helpful, if not only for a tutorial on making and toying with the video tour component.

Lab 4: GCP allocation in Pix4D
  1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic on scale of 1-5: 3
  2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic  on a scale of 1-5: 4
  3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn on a scale of 1-5: 3.5
  4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I wish i had a better understanding of why each GCP location was where it was. Why did you decide to go there as apposed to somewhere else?

Lab 5: 3D model and merging nadir and oblique imagery

  1. Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic on scale of 1-5: 1
  2. Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic  on a scale of 1-5: 3.5
  3. Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn on a scale of 1-5: 5
  4. What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
This lab was frustrating because it took me several times to realize what i needed to do to create better results. Given that it can take hours for these projects re-optimize, the little adjustments that are needed to create better results are realized quickly but than you would have to wait  along time to see if what you thought was correct.  Learned a lot from this one.
